Real numbers are numbers that are real, unlike imaginary numbers which are imaginary.

Properties of real numbers:

Distributive property of multiplication or addition:

a,b,c = real numbers

a(b+c) = ab + ac       or        (b+c)a =ba + ca

Addative inverse:

x and -x are opposites or addative inverse

Subtraction is the inverse of addition.
           a-b = a+(-b)

Absolute values:

For any real number, a, if:
      a>0 then     [a] = a

                or

     a<0 then       [a] = -a

  example:-  let a = -3
                    then    [-3] = -(-3) = 3
